The Dark World

The Dark World is an alternate dimension of the Earth. It can only be accessed through a single portal, which is opened [somehow]. It is constantly dark, yet has a "sun", like the original world. The sun is blocked out by two planet-like objects orbiting the Earth, which emit a dark purple aura across the atmosphere.

Setting

The terrain is exactly the same as in the original world (it dynamically changes according to the original world's terrain, and not vise versa), but little else is. It almost constantly rains (due to the Dark World containing approximately 50% more water than the original world), causing most of the ground to be flooded.

It is inhabited by "shadow lifeforms", which are in balance with lifeforms of the original world. As life is created in the original world, life is created in the Dark World. People of the original world theorize that these are counterparts of humans, flora, and fauna, and are essentially the "opposite". Eykan was one of the first to find this untrue, and that they bear no resemblance to the reasons of their existence.

There also exists a variety of extremely dense metals in the Dark World which mirrors ore in the original world. It becomes so dense from its constant exposure to dark energy. If one were to leave a plate of any metal in the dark world, it would change to dark metal. This is the material which Vay Monferro's armor is made of.

Connection to Eykan

Eykan was the first human to inhabit the Dark World. Throughout the story, no other humans live in the Dark world except for Eykan's Army, the staff of his sky fortress, and everyone else under his immediate holding.

He uses the Dark World as protection from meddling. He sustains government and popular belief that he is a humble shepherd of the land and its people. His "evil" qualities are quite blatant in his fortress, but it is well guarded by the harsh environment of the Dark World.
